OSWESTRY endured a battling 21-12 defeat at home to Tenbury in division two of the West Midlands League on Saturday.

The Eagles bid to avenge a slender early season defeat in front of a large home crowd.

A tight opening saw both sides show their qualities with some heavy tackling.

The game was not pretty and various skirmishes broke out between both teams with the referee blowing his whistle.

The game was interrupted by penalties by both teams with one Oswestry kick missed followed very quickly by a Tenbury penalty which established a slender lead.

Oswestry fought back with a move created by Jed Corbett passing the ball to Iwan Ellis who was able to run over and score the first try of the game.

Iwan Ellis converted but there was no way back for the Eagles.

The final whistle came and the good points from the Oswestry team was that the pack played well winning most of the scrums against a larger team.

There is no game on Saturday due to the Six Nations but Oswestry will travel to Market Drayton on Friday night to play their fixture with a 7pm kick-off.
