Oswestry Olympians Juniors brought home a large share of the medals after competing in the Shropshire Sportshall Championships held at Much Wenlock.

In the winter months the club trains for running outdoors at Gatacre while on Thursdays they move indoors to train in The Marches sportshall.

Although they had all competed against clubs from across the county in the Sportshall League, for many this was their first experience of entering a county championship. 

Their training during the winter stood them in good stead with 11 medals returning to Oswestry.

William Arran led the way winning the Under 11 standing long jump alongside fourth places in the soft javelin and two lap race.

Teammate Oscar Lea secured a bronze medal in the two lap hurdles and also delivered impressive performances in the twp lap race and the soft javelin. 

In the Under 11 girls competitions Mia Dimelow and Evie Griffiths both won bronze medals in the two lap hurdles and soft javelin respectively while Emily O’Connor showed her versatility with good performances in the standing long jump, two lap and four lap races.

Charlie Lister was the star of the under 13 boys competitions winning the vertical jump and three lap race then securing his third medal with silver in the two lap race. 

Archie Calloway came home with three medals in the Under 15s, winning the standing triple jump and coming second in both the two lap and three lap races. 

Harry Tidridge struck gold, winning the three lap race and claimed bronze in the vertical jump. Also gaining bronze was Kate Hotchkiss in the shot putt. 

Several Olympians have been selected to represent Shropshire in the West Midlands Sportshall Championships in Solihull.
