Do you recognise this house?

If so, you might be able to provide the help that one woman needs, after she appealed for information about the property, which was photographed in the 1920s in a village near Oswestry.

Katharine Lees, from Rugby, and her father have been going through family pictures a few years ago when they stumbled across a photograph of a house at Oakfields Farm in Ifton Heath.

Katharine’s grandmother, Norah Taylor and her five siblings lived at the house in the early part of the 20th century, and their parents were Jabez and Hannah Taylor.

OTHER NEWS:

She said: “Me and my father, who is 94, have been wondering for years about the house and who the woman in the picture might be.”

In one of the pictures, taken around 1923, we can see Katharine’s grandmother’s eldest brother, Jack and his wife Beattie (nee Paddock) sitting with a lady who presumably lives at the house.

Katharine added: “Although we don't know who she is, she does appear on other family photos.

“All we know about the house is that it was far enough away that they needed to visit by car.

“The pictures are taken by grandfather, but sadly he passed away before we found the pictures.”

As the family is not in contact with any relatives from the Oswestry area, she has decided to contact Oswestry Family and Local History Group, to try to make sense of these pictures.

Veronica Bryan-Smith, from the local group, said: “Does anyone recognise this idyllic scene?

“It's a long shot, she realises, but maybe these lovely old pictures will conjure up childhood memories for someone.
