Oswestry Olympians athlete Elliot O’Connor was the top performer at the West Midlands Sportshall Championships to be crowned Under 15 Boys’ champion.

Elliot will now represent the region at the UK Championships to be held in Colchester later in the year.

Elliot was one of a seven strong contingent from Oswestry Olympians in the Shropshire team which competed against other West Midland counties in the Sporthall Regional Finals and Fun in Athletics competitions at North Solihull Sports Centre.

He made a great start winning the speed bounce with a score of 82, a clear 12 points ahead of his nearest rival.

His dominance continued winning the standing long jump by 43cm with a leap of 2.36metres.

He then switched to the track where he romped home in the two lap race well ahead of the chasing pack to secure an unassailable maximum point haul in all his events.
