THERE will be a packed agenda for Ellesmere Town Council’s meeting on Monday with a number of items to be discussed.

The meeting, to be held at Ellesmere Town Hall in Willow Street, will start at 7pm on Monday, March 4 and will follow the town’s planning meeting.

Councillors will be asked to consider options for the bar lease at the town hall while there will be further discussions around Ellesmere Cricket Club’s intention to expand its clubhouse and subsequently put it up for hire.

Councillors will be asked to consider the outcome of a meeting the cricket club had with a resident that had expressed concerns over noise issues at the club.

The council will also discuss what the cricket club’s current licensable activities and operating times i.e. what functions it can put on and what changes may have to be made for future use.

Councillors will be also asked to note a two-day road closure from Brich Road to Sandy Lane on Tuesday, March 19 to Thursday, March 21 to allow for patching work on the surface.

Meanwhile, councillors will also confirm/note that the chairman of the council – currently Councillor Anne Wignall who is on compassionate leave – was nominated to be considered for a Buckingham Palace Garden Party.

The final selection will be made by SALC (Shropshire Association of Local Councils).

Two working groups will be addressed in the meeting – the Town Hall where a verbal report and recommendations will be discussed as well as the resignation of Cllr J Howard.

Meanwhile, the newly-created Emergency Action Group will be asked to agree and confirm terms of reference for what work it is expected to carry out.

Councillors will also be asked to consider a request from Oswestry Borderland Tourism to sponsor four pages in a brochure with an option for advertising space.

A number of financial issues will also be discussed at the meeting.
