MORDA United make the trip to local rivals Gobowen Celtic in the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League on Saturday.

Manager Mike O’Reilly said: “It will be a very difficult game against a physical team who can beat anybody on there day.

“The conditions will be difficult and it should make for a battling local derby.

“Our home game against Gobowen was probably our worst performance of the season and we were very lucky to come away with a point even though we finished with nine men.

Gobowen will be keen to shake off the cobwebs with the Celts without a match for more than a month.

A club spokesman said: "It’s hopefully, weather permitting, an opportunity to blow off the cobwebs having not had a league game since a 2-1 win away win over Wem Town back on November 11th.

"The reverse fixture at the start of the season was a tightly contested affair, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

"However since then we have been very disappointed with our performances and results, with once again finding it difficult to maintain a settled side."

"We are slowly bringing players back from injuries and suspensions which should benefit us in the new year but this weekend will be a massive test against a team flying near the top of the league," added the spokesman.

A club spokesman said: "We are looking forward to the weekend as it is an opportunity to right the wrongs of the away game.

"We are coming of the back of two positive results, but we know we need to keep reaching these levels to get more points on the board."

Weston Rhyn entertain Shrewsbury Up and Comers Development in division one.

Manager Lewis Alderson said: “Ultimately this is our last chance to achieve our first win of 2023. 

“The team has been drilled on how important this game is for the club moving forward and how we can build on it in the New Year.

“We are quietly confident we can finally get that win that’s been eluding us over the last few months.”
