A CHIRK café is the proud receiver of the Wrexham Community Business Award for Social Enterprise 2023 and are now looking ahead to grow their company.

The directors and employees of Glyn Wylfa and Caffi Wylfa, were presented the award at an event on Friday night, November 10.

Brian Colley, director of finance and operations for the café, is really thrilled with the award.

He said: “ We started the business 10 years ago and it’s grown and expanded lots.

“We’ve made a lot of profit, which we invested in the facilities and made donations to local charities.

“We have made 20 donations this year and all to local causes.”

The Wrexham Community Business Awards (WCBA) have been designed to be inclusive awards aimed at businesses of all shapes and sizes, located throughout Wrexham.

Regardless of the size or industry, if the owners have done something special to benefit the wider Wrexham community, they want to hear about it.

Mr Colley added: “We try to make a difference in our community in Wrexham and Shropshire.

“It’s great to get recognition for the work.”

Next for the business is investing in energy efficient ways to support the business, a new walk-in fridge-freezer room and to expand.

“We are looking to do more outside catering and to really expand our business”, Mr Colley added.

The director also liked to congratulate all the other businesses who were at the awards, and to thank everyone involved.
