The Oswestry Royal British Legion began planning this year's poppy appeal in August, and now the event is in full swing, highlighting the town's strong commitment to honouring those who sacrificed for their country.

They are also wholeheartedly supporting those who have served their nation but now require assistance for various health and welfare reasons.

Fortunately, the organizers enjoy the backing of a dedicated team of volunteers who are highly motivated and enthusiastic.

This extract is from a poem written by Robert Laurence Binyon titled "For the Fallen," composed in September 1914, shortly after the outbreak of the First World War.

The Exhortation reads: "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them."

And in response: "We will remember them."
