CHRIK Town Council celebrated their annual Citizen of the Year award at Chirk Parish Hall last week.  

Cllr. Frank Hemmings (Chairman) presented the award to the well-deserved Amy Valentine of Chirk.

Amy's selfless dedication to the community, including raising over £3,000 for a local family facing a cancer diagnosis, and her commitment to becoming a volunteer first aid responder, earned her this well-deserved recognition.

A spokesperson for the Council: “It gave us as a council great pleasure to present the Citizen of the year, to an individual of whom has had a positive impact on our community, and evidently thought of in high regards.”

Amy has not only done this for this family, but Amy has also done this for other families in Chirk during some of the hardest times in their lives.

Amy also has had her own personal goals to achieve to become a volunteer first aid responder.

Amy has worked tirelessly to raise awareness to the Chirk community along with many fundraising events, inclusive of setting up GoFundMe pages, organising and hosting discos, afternoon teas, creating Christmas boxes for children in care and many more.

Amy's positive impact on Chirk is highly regarded, making her a deserving recipient of the Citizen of the Year award.
