RESIDENTS around the rivers Severn and Vyrnwy confluence outside Oswestry are being warned to expect imminent flooding.
The confluence – where both rivers meet – at Crew Green is currently only under an Environment Agency (EA) flood alert but officials there also say that flooding is close.
A spokesman for the EA said to start preparations for when farmland around the two rivers and the confluence starts to flood.

They said: “Flooding is possible in this area.
“Monitor local water levels and weather conditions.
“Avoid using low-lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.”
EA officials have urged residents to keep check for rising water levels and to avoid low-level areas around the confluence.
Over the past few years, the villages of Melverley, Melverly Green and Maesbrook have been hit hardest by the flooding, with Four Crosses and Llanymynech also affected.
