AN OSWESTRY woman has admitted her delight after a podcast episode covering transgenderism was nominated for an award.

Charlotte Foster, a former BBC journalist, works out of an office opposite Milano’s in Old Chapel Court having moved to Oswestry in 2021.

An episode of her podcast Gloriously Unready, made by Charlotte Foster Productions, covered an interview with a woman who had two children come out as transgender and received plenty of critical acclaim.

Charlotte admitted that she was delighted to be given the nomination and felt it was deserved for the way the sensitive subject was handled.

“This has made my day because I’ve never been put forward before,” she said.

She added: “It’s an absolute thrill to be nominated for an award at the Independent Podcast Awards.

“Not only does it reflect the hard work that’s gone into creating this podcast, but to be recognised by the Independent Podcast Awards is really special, because they celebrate the podcasts that are made for the love of the craft of podcasting, as well as connecting with your audience.

“And that is at the core of what we do at Charlotte Foster Podcasts."

Charlotte moved to the town with her family from Stoke after working as breakfast radio host at the town’s BBC radio station and admitted she has fallen in love with Oswestry.

Podcasting was a labour of love for her and she tried to keep enjoying her broadcasting

She said: “I started with my first podcast in 2017 which I did on my mobile.

“I missed being on the radio at the BBC and I’ve really enjoyed it.

“I became more famous in Stoke doing the podcasts than I did when I was their breakfast radio presenter.

“In 2018 I started doing it for a business and since then, it’s grown and grown, and last year I became a limited company as it was needed by organisations I worked with.

“I work with businesses to produce podcasts for awareness campaigns.

“The role of my business is to give a voice to people who don’t have one and podcasts are really good because you don’t have to send a press release to radios to get them played.

“You just play them.

“For me, it’s like the development of zines in the 80s and 90s.”
