FIRE crews were called out to blaze involving five vehicles and two jet skis near Oswestry last night.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS) responded to an incident in Maesbrook at around 8.58pm.

Two fire teams were mobilised from Oswestry, while an operations officer was also called to the scene.

A spokesperson from SFRS said: “This incident involved three saloon cars, a van, a motorbike and two jet skis alight.

“Crews used two hose reel jets, a covering jet, four breathing apparatus and two thermal image cameras to extinguish the fire.

"A fire investigation was carried out and the fire is believed to have been electrical, originating in one of the vehicles."

West Mercia Police were also at the scene of the incident. 

A spokesperson from the police confirmed: "Following a review of the incident on CCTV, it was clear how the fire started was not suspicious and officers were told to stand down."

A stop message was sent out to control, to confirm no further assistance was needed, at 9.49pm.
