ADAM Wilson has departed JD Cymru Premier champions to join English League Two side Bradford City.

The midfielder has joined the Bantams in new record transfer fee including add-ons for the Oswestry club.

Joining the club on transfer deadline day last September, Wilson went on to make 23 appearances for Craig Harrison’s side and found the back of the net on seven occasions.

He made his debut against Cardiff Met University last September before scoring his first TNS goal in the 6-2 victory against Flint Town United 10 days later.

Winning both the JD Cymru Premier and JD Welsh Cup during his stay at Park Hall, the former Newcastle United man was a popular figure around the club and won the 2022/23 Supporters’ Player of the Season award in April.

The England under 18 international will now be looking to replicate the form he showed during his time in Wales at Valley Parade.

TNS have previously helped to launch the Football League careers of both Scott Quigley and Connell Rawlinson and this move continues the club’s impressive record of developing talent for the English game.

Chairman Mike Harris said: "This goes to prove that the standard of the JD Cymru Premier is far high than the league is given credit for.

"We’d like to thank Adam for his service over the last 12 months and wish him the best of luck for his future career.

"Having already enjoyed a productive summer on the transfer front, we’re hopeful of adding more high quality signings before the windows closes."

Wilson said: “I am buzzing - really happy to have signed - and am just ready to kick on and get started.

“This is a big club that should be a lot higher up in the leagues, with a great manager and fanbase, so it was difficult to say no when I heard of the interest.

“I love playing in front of big crowds. I did it a few times at Newcastle, and it really gets your adrenaline going. Some players sink under it, but it gives me more of a boost.

“I am a quick, direct, skilful winger who likes to score and assist goals. I am ready to get out there in front of people and showcase what I can do. I feel physically good, and am ready to go.”

Bantams boss Mark Hughes said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of Adam, as a player we have been tracking all summer.

“He is a fast, direct winger who likes to get at defenders and contribute with goals and assists at the top end of the pitch.

“Having started his career at Newcastle United, he now has plenty of experience at a young age, after performing well in Wales last season and helping TNS to silverware.

“We are pleased to have tied him down on a contract for at least the next three years, and are looking forward to seeing him in action for Bradford City.”
