ELLESMERE Repair Café will be open again on the first Saturday in September between 1-4pm at the town hall.

Members of the public are warmly encouraged to bring along any items that are broken and the fixperts will do their best to repair them – for free.

There will also be an opportunity to taste delicious home-made cakes alongside a cuppa also free of charge but donations are always welcome.

Organiser Anne Wignall said she was once again looking forward to seeing how members of the public can be helped by the ‘fixperts’.

And she added that the day is as much a social occasion as it is for repairs and urged anyone wanting to what happens to attend.

She said: “You don’t need to have an item for repair.

“If you’d like to come along for tea and cake and to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, we would love to see you.”

Typical items brought to Repair Cafes include toasters and kettles, clothes, toys, ornaments and even some small items of furniture.

OTHER NEWS:

Rod Evans, one of the volunteer fixperts, runs the cycle shop in Market Street and is the go-to expert on everything to do with bicycles.

He has been repairing them since he was 11 years of age and he can also repair smaller wheels on pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Anne added: “The café is managed by Ewan Williams and a rota of volunteers.

“With a background in hotel management, Ewan is more than qualified to organise the café and contributes his signature tray-bakes to the cake table too.

Fellow organiser, Amanda Weekes, said the group is incredibly for the fixpert’s involvement in the sessions.

She said: “All these people and many more go out of their way to make Ellesmere Repair Café a useful and enjoyable addition to the Ellesmere community.”
