AN OSWESTRY school ended the school year with sporting success.

Children at Woodside School excelled in a host of events.

The cross country team won the local primary cross country competition with the Year 3/4 boys and girls winning their events.

Charlotte Rowlands and Kelly Jones, PE leaders at Woodside said: "It has been lovely to see so many children participating in the recent cross country events and enjoying their team and individual successes.

"When competing, the children have shown determination and resilience. These are important values at Woodside Primary School."

The school's Year 5/6 boys' football team won the large schools event at the Marches School while the Year 5/6 athletics team represented North Shropshire at the county finals and ended joint champions.

This followed the school's Key Stage 2 athletics team putting in a brilliant display at Queensway in a competition which consisted of a mixture of track and field events.

The team excelled in every area of the competition, coming away the champions for the second year running.

Mike O’Reilly, PE coach at Woodside said: "It was fantastic to see all the children return from the event so positive and excited to share their news.

"One of our core values at Woodside is aspiration and the children certainly demonstrated this during the competition."
