AN ARTS trail in and around Oswestry will return next month allowing visitors to take in artist studios to see how they work.

The Borderland Visual Arts (BVA) will be running its Open Studios event on Saturday and Sunday, June 10/11 and June 17/18 from 10am-5pm.

There are 27 artists taking part in 13 different locations in Oswestry and the surrounding villages such as West Felton, Llanfyllin and Weston Rhyn, and even out to Cefn Mawr in Wrexham.

Alison Holt, a BVA committee member, added that people who take part in the trail could win a cash prize, and is looking forward to showing the studios to visitors, some of who, she says, have travelled from across the country.

She said: “This year the BVA is really excited to offer all visitors the chance to win £100 to spend on any BVA Member’s artwork.

“This is a great opportunity for the winner to own some original art from their favourite local artist.

“We hold this open studio event every year and it is always a great success, with visitors coming from all over the country.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for people to meet our artists, explore their creative spaces and see their work. All art is for sale but there is no obligation to buy.”

To showcase the work of the BVA artists taking part, the Willow Gallery will be holding a group show between Saturday, May 6 until Saturday, June 24.

Alison added: “There will also be a private view evening on Friday, May 19 6pm-8pm, which is a great opportunity to meet the artists and be the first to see their work.

“If you would like to attend please email”

Emma Sherry, one of the artists who will be opening her studio for the event, added: “The Arts Trail is such a wonderful opportunity for us, as artists, to meet new people, give them a glimpse into our creative process and to showcase our work.

“It is important to have these opportunities as artists and the BVA is fantastic at supporting its artists to do so.”
