AN OSWESTRY tattoo shop manager has said she feels 'helpless' after vandals targetted the business over the bank holiday weekend.

Sam Griffiths, of Ye Olde Ink Inn in Beatrice Street, was called to the shop after a neighbouring business noticed that its signs had been smashed and the hanging baskets ripped off the wall on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1.

It's believed the vandalism happened in the early hours of Monday morning.

Sam said: “We got the message on Monday, as they noticed the signs were smashed down.

“They tidied it up a little before we got there, which was nice of them.

“Me and one of the other people who work here came down and had a look.”

She continued: “The signs were smashed to bits – and we have these hanging baskets outside and it seems like they were swinging off them.

“Also, the doorbell was ripped off too.”

Sam and her colleague cleaned everything up and filed a vandalism online form for the police, but have not heard anything back yet.

“We have no idea who it could have been,” she added. “I feel like because it was our artwork it feels a bit more personal, but I think it was just some drunk people.”

Sam said that one of her other colleagues who was out in Oswestry that night walked past the shop around 3.30am and she couldn’t see anything going on, so they believe it must have happened afterwards.

She added: “I don’t think we know what else to do now, it feels a bit helpless now, as there’s not a lot that can be done really.

“We’re just disappointed and we hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

“We are not putting any more signs out front because we feel like it will happen again.”

West Mercia Police has been approached for a comment.
