Homes in Oswestry were left without power last night after cuts affecting four postcodes in the town.

Scottish Power Energy Networks users from the SY10 postcodes in Croeswylan Crescent and surround areas, were faced with a power cut from 8.30pm last night.

The energy company explained that restoration might take longer than expected, but the issue has now been resolved.

A spokesperson for SP Energy Networks said: “Due to an underground cable fault, power supplies to around 50 customers in the SY10 area of Oswestry were affected for a temporary period last night, due to an underground cable fault and the necessary repair works. 

OTHER NEWS:

"Our engineers attended immediately and restored supplies to a number of properties in around two hours, with the rest following as the repair works were completed in the early hours.

"We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused."

Postcodes affected by this were SY109PN, SY109PP, SY109PW, SY112BA.

The company is urging people still without power to contact them on 0800 001 5400 for Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales and North Shropshire.
