Lake Vyrnwy was the coldest spot in Wales last night as the country was disrupted by unseasonable snow.

The Powys beauty spot had the lowest teperatures in the whole of Wales, hitting a chilly minus two degrees - the lowest in the country.

This comes as the region has been disrupted by the unseasonabley bad weather with many of the county's schools closed and many roads closed after the overnight snow.

The weather has been so bad that the people at the Lake had advised the public not to visit.

They told their followers on their social media feeds: "Please avoid travelling to Lake Vyrnwy today due to snow and ice forecasted yesterday and today. We will keep you updated on site conditions over the next few days."

 

Businesses in the area around the Lake also had to close. Lake Vyrnwy Holday Home Park said they weren't able to have any customers today after "five inches and the snow is still coming strong."

 

The bad weather is set to continue over the next 24 hours with an amber weather warning in force for snow and ice in force until midday tomorrow. 

However the poor weather is not expected to last as temperatures are expecte to rise over the weekend with the Met Office predicting double digit temperatures over the weekend.
