Residents across Llanfyllin have donated food and funds to a vital Powys charity that supports people escaping domestic abuse.
Montgomery Family Crisis Centre received a donation of £410, collected from Llanfyllin residents as part of the town’s Christmas celebrations.
The non-profit organisation’s Community Liaison Officer Fleur Frantz-Morgans visited Llanfyllin on February 14 to receive the donations and thank the town’s residents for their generosity.
Townspeople donated £296 to the collection during the Christmas carols on the square and gave another £114 at the Santa’s Grotto in the Cross Keys.
Bags of food were collected at St Myllin’s Church during the winter months, which were also donated to Montgomery family Crisis Centre.

Ms Frantz-Morgans said: “We can’t thank the people of Llanfyllin enough for their generosity and continued support in these difficult times. MFCC’s services cover the whole of North Powys, providing a wide range of support tailored to the needs of the adults and children experiencing domestic abuse.”
Montgomery family Crisis Centre provides refuges for men, women and children who have suffered domestic abuse and runs outreach programmes throughout Montgomeryshire to support people in their own homes.
The charity aims to reduce the risk of domestic abuse and to positively change the lives nof their clients by providing specialist support and guidance.
Llanfyllin Mayor Alison Alexander said: “Sadly, domestic abuse is much more widespread than many of us realise. I’m pleased our town has been able to help those who have experienced it to rebuild their lives with MFCC’s support.”
Reverend Hermione Morris said: “St Myllin’s Church is pleased to be able to continue supporting the work of MFCC both in practical ways, such as collecting food items at the Carol Service, and through prayer, for all who work within the charity, the people they support, and all those living with domestic abuse.
“We’re grateful to be a small part in raising awareness of this issue and in promoting the work of MFCC.”
