Bridgnorth IIs 7
OSWESTRY celebrated derby glory at home to Counties Two West Midlands League side Bridgnorth IIs on Saturday.
The home side began the match brightly on a cold and wet day.
The home pack was supported by solid tackling from the backs and Oswestry’s early pressure yielded a try inside the opening five minutes with Andrew Smith crossing and Tom Williams converting.
Bridgnorth tried to get out of their half but whenever they managed to kick the ball over the defensive line Tom Williams and Dan Williams were able to boot the ball long into their half.
The pressure and indiscipline by Bridgnorth paid off as Oswestry were given a penalty in a kicking distance in which Tom Williams converted.

No matter what Bridgnorth did Oswestry kept them in their half with the whole team doing well in the tackling and turning the ball over.
Just before half-time the ball found its way to Rory Kershaw who was able to out run the defence and score the second Oswestry try
Oswestry started the second-half the same as the first by refusing to allow the visitors back into the game with Tom Williams’ kicking keeping them tied on the edge of their 22.
Number 8 Scott Smith was able to force a way through to put the ball onto the line as Oswestry established a 20 point lead.

From the restart Oswestry were once again back in the Bridgnorth half applying more pressure and it was no surprise when Kershaw ran down the wing and acrobatically jumped to put the ball down just before being tackled into touch to seal the bonus point.
Bridgnorth suffered several injuries but they continued to play and they were finally able to break through the Oswestry line to score a try and convert for some consolation.
Oswestry now sit in fifth place in the league table and just six points behind Newport and next week the Eagles travel to their Shropshire rivals Market Drayton for another crunch clash.
