AN old fire station is set be transformed into a housing scheme of eight dwellings, as Wrexham Council approves plans.
Wrexham Council received the outline proposals for the building of eight homes on the site of the old fire station and a former chapel in Colliery Road, Chirk, around two years ago in 2021.
After many attempts it has finally been approved by the officers last month, on September 27.

Before the building begins a couple of things, such as the layout of the buildings, their scale, their appearance and more need to be approved by the officers.
The council anticipates more checks before construction begins on the new development of three-bedroom houses.
They said: “No part of the development shall commence until a scheme for the comprehensive and integrated drainage of the site indicating how foul water, surface water and land drainage will be dealt with has been submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority.
This condition ensures the site handles foul water, surface water, and land drainage effectively.
The council also expects a detailed Arboricultural Method Statement before work starts.
The scheme, once authorised, will follow a pre-agreed timescale and shall be maintained in perpetuity.
At present, the old fire station site sees little use, with the owner utilising the existing structures for minimal storage.
