OSWESTRY’S mayor swapped her chains for boxing gloves recently to officially open new gym space in the town.

Councillor Olly Rose was on hand to officially cut the ribbon at Coach House Fitness, formerly part of the Wynnstay Hotel in Church Street, after it expanded and also took on new staff.

Rad Danailov took over the business 13 months ago following Coaching Inn Group’s – which had recently acquired the hotel – decision to close the gym to cut costs.

He said: “It has all gone extremely well.

“Of course I am so glad that I took up the take-over challenge when the opportunity was offered to me by The Coaching Inn Group who own the Wynnstay.”

Coach House Fitness has added a 150-square metre square fitness studio by converting the old hotel swimming pool and taken on two new staff members to assist in the running of a range of fitness classes including, spin, yoga. Pilates and boxercise.

The new fitness studio was officially opened by the mayor of Oswestry Cllr Rose, who cut the ribbon on St David’s Day (Friday, March 1).

She was joined for the ceremony by Rad plus fitness instructor and boxercise coach Liam Grasier, fitness instructor and personal trainer Luke Evans, and fitness and spin instructor Callum Woodcock.

The mayor also took some time out to enjoy a spot of boxercise with Liam.
