MUSIC lovers will still be able to pick up tickets for a Christmas performance from a ladies choir in Oswestry on Saturday.
The Oswestry Ladies Choir Annual Christmas Concert will be held in Christchurch, near Arthur Street, today (Saturday, December 16) at 7.30pm.
This seasonal offering, full of Christmas joy will include a major work by Schubert and a compilation of beautiful Carols and Songs celebrating different aspects of the Nativity, ranging from the galloping ”In Dulci Jubilo” to the sleeping child “Virgin’s Slumber Song” and ending with the Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah, bringing tidings of great joy.

A choir spokesman added: “There are also Traditional Carols for all to sing.
“Oswestry Ladies Choir will be joined by soprano Abigail Baylis, a post-graduate student from Birmingham Conservatoire who will sing arias from the Messiah by Handel.”
Tickets are £10 but children aged 14 and below are free, and are available from choir members or on the door.
Refreshments available.
Meanwhile, the spokesman added that Oswestry Ladies Choir is also seeking new members for both Soprano and Alto sections for the new season, starting January 2024.
They added: “If you love to sing, come and join this very friendly and hardworking choir that loves to sing everything from Pop Chorals to Puccini, Mozart to Musical Theatre.
“The ability to read music is an asset but not essential as help and encouragement is given to all.
“The Ladies Choir performs two concerts a year and performs to a high standard.
