STAFF at a pre-school outside Oswestry have thanked people for the response to news of a break-in that caused damage to its facility.

The lending library at Morda Pre-School, in Morda Road, was broken into recently, with police apprehending the people believed to be responsible.

There have been some donations sent to the school, which deputy Harriet Wale has welcomed, but she has also asked for people to continue to help them re-build their stock of books for the future.

She said: “Sadly, as you may have seen on social media our lending library was vandalised and we were forced to close it following next to no resources, books or furniture left.

“It has gutted the staff who work so hard to provide the children, families and community with a comfortable and accessible space to share books and other resources with their children.

“We've had heartbroken parents offering security cameras, books and donations to get it back in working order as they value it so much – it's become part of their children's routine.

“It's so especially important developmentally we encourage lots of skills and knowledge around reading, listening and communication for our children and this was a lovely space in which we and parents could do just that.

“We even used the space as part of our pre-school sessions sometimes too.

“With the vandals being identified and brought forward, now being dealt with by the police, we have put out a request and plea for help.

“We would like our lending library repaired and renewed, resourced and ready for the new year on our return.”

Harriet thanked all those who have donated so far and said that help can be given in many different formats.

She added: “Today alone we have had such wonderful people and local organisations come and donate books and donations to help our cause but we need more.
