A GROUP of young fundraisers from Oswestry School have set their sights on raising funds for two local charities by holding a unique film and street food event.

The event will feature a selection of street food made by OsNosh, a screening of Ken Loach film "I, Daniel Blake", followed by a question and answer session with speakers from the community kitchen as well as Oswestry Foodbank volunteers.

All funds raised on the evening will be shared between both charities.

OTHER NEWS:

A spokesman from school, based in Upper Brook Street, explained the reasons for the event.

They said: “Pupils Meg, Harry, Ferdinand and Katja decided to organise the event after watching the film "I, Daniel Blake" during a class outing.

“This powerful film about poverty in modern-day Britain made an impression on all four pupils.

“They said they were moved by the film and felt inspired to make a positive difference in their community by raising funds for Oswestry Foodbank and OsNosh.

“The pupils who are members of the school's Community Action group have been involved in various volunteering projects in Oswestry but have never organised a fundraising event before and are keen to make this a success.”

"We really want as many people as possible to attend this event and help us to raise money for two really important charities in Oswestry," said Meg and Katja.

Harry said: "We wanted others to see the film and be inspired to help others, like we were inspired.”

Ferdinand added that ‘he had no idea about these issues and wanted to bring this to the attention of others’.
