A SCORE of ‘remarkable’ runners who took part in the 2023 London Marathon in aid of The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital have been thanked for their efforts. 

The group collectively raised a phenomenal £43,000 for the RJAH Charity and to thank them, a celebration event was held in the Headley Court Veterans’ Orthopaedic Centre at the Gobowen hospital.  

Each runner received a certificate of appreciation, which was presented to them by RJAH chief executive Stacey Keegan.  

Victoria Sugden, RJAH charity director, said: “We are immensely grateful to our team of runners who took part in the London Marathon to raise much-needed funds for RJAH Charity.

“The London Marathon is the biggest fundraiser on the calendar and all runners play a huge part in enabling us to provide the best possible support to patients and staff at RJAH. 

“The funds raised by the team will go into our wider charitable funds pot, which is used to fund projects across the hospital to support patient care and improve staff services.” 

Ms Keegan was part of Team RJAH for last year’s marathon, adding said: “Having taken part in the marathon myself I know what a huge challenge it is – my congratulations goes to each and every runner for their outstanding achievement.” 

Trust chairman Harry Turner added: “A huge thank you must go to every single Team RJAH member – their dedication and commitment to running the marathon and raising funds for RJAH Charity has been overwhelming and we can’t thank them enough. 

“On behalf of the Trust I want to say well done to all. The money raised will benefit our patients and staff and for that, we are grateful.”

The runners who took part in the marathon were; Anne-Marie Baldwin, Tonicha Lloyd, Ady Ethelstone, Jed Machin, Katie Pickles, Calfin Griffiths, Nik Sharma, Dean Hornsey, Laura Ryan, Sophie Jones, Kate Oakley, Amy Peach, Victoria Richmond, Chris Moss, Ruth Longfellow, Deborah Pennington, Tom Ellis, Daniel Dovaston, James Hankin, Duncan McVerry and Harry Skelton. 

The 2024 TCS London Marathon is planned to take place on Sunday, April 21 and there are a limited number of spaces left for those interested in joining Team RJAH.  

Those who sign up must commit to raising a minimum of £1,500 for the Trust.
