A CHILDCARE centre near Oswestry continues to provide an ‘outstanding’ educational space for pupils, according to a recent Ofsted inspection.

Pant Pandas Childcare Centre, set within Bryn Offa C of E Primary School, in Rockwell Lane, scored an ‘outstanding’ rating in their recent report.

Inspector Anne Dyoss didn’t have a single bad thing to say after her recent visit.

She praised the centre's continuous development and the teachers’ willingness to always find ways to help pupils at the start of their education.

She said: “Children flourish in the care of the nurturing staff and gain an excellent start to their education.

“They embrace fully the high-quality experiences provided by staff and are self-motivated to extend their knowledge and skills.”

In her report, Mrs Dyoss explained that children ‘strive to solve problems independently’.

She added: “Two-year-old children move jigsaw pieces around and then test out other pieces so they can complete the puzzle.

“Older children concentrate and show high levels of determination as they use their fingers to remove play dough that is stuck in a container with a narrow opening.

“Staff make timely interventions to provide children with options that will help them to achieve their aim.”

Mrs Dyoss praised the manager for their high levels of professionalism and support for children’s current learning needs.

There are three different groups within the nursery, the Ladybirds who are two-years-old pupils, the Caterpillars who are three-years-old, and the Butterflies who are the transition students ready to go to school.

In terms of safeguarding, the measures were found to be effective.

Mrs Dyoss explained: “The safety of children is paramount to the manager and staff, and they implement rigorous checks to ensure that the premises are safe for children to use.

“Staff deploy themselves very well and supervise children closely throughout the day.

“All staff have a strong understanding of a wide range of signs and symptoms of abuse.”
