Team Elite in Oswestry has had huge success with a number of their fighters, adding more title to an already impressive seven title belts.

Daryl Small and Matt White were fighting at the British No-Gi Championship in Stoke on Trent on February 4.

Matt White, who was competing in this event for the first time, battled hard adding another submission victory to his growing record. Unfortunately he was eliminated from the tournament in the quarter finals, where he narrowly lost on points.

Daryl Small who teaches the beginner Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes at Elite, managed to get through to the finals where he lost on points to a strong wrestler. Along the way he managed to secure several submission wins.

Daryl said he was pleased with his performance given he was struggling with a knee injury and was in a higher weight division then he is used to.

February 11 also saw Team Elite member Lee Davis competing, this time at the Macron Stadium in Bolton at invitational event Grapple Mania.

Lee had to step up in the competition because of moving up a weight class but still managed to end the day with a silver medal, narrowly missing out on gold after losing his final bout on points to a very experienced opponent.

Lee said: "I was very happy with the outcome of the day, especially with moving up the weight class and coming up against some very tough guys! "Thank you to all my coaches and training partners that helped me prepare for Grapple Mania."

Lee also thanked sponsors Griffiths Tool Hire and The Red Lion Ellesmere for their help leading up to the day.

All fighters would like to thank all of their coaches who helped them prepare for the competition.

The head coach, Rich Cosgrove, is currently travelling in Japan to train with some of the top fighters in the world to gain insights and to bring that knowledge back to the Team Elite club.
