Neil Robertson believes his game could not be in a better shape as he begins the charge for his second World Championship title.

The Australian lifted the trophy back in 2010 but has not progressed beyond the semi-finals since, winning just one match in his last three outings at the Crucible.

But as he heads to Sheffield with four successive ranking event finals and Welsh and China Open titles under his belt, form is the buzzword for the Thunder from Down Under.

Add that to a positive personal life which has seen wife Mille give birth for the second time last month, and things could barely be better both on and off the table.

“It’s been amazing, we had [son] Alexander a few years ago but we didn’t think we were going to be able to have any more kids so it’s a great feeling,” said the 37-year-old, who faces Cyprus' debutant Michael Georgiou in the first round.

“The past few weeks, winning in China, Penelope being born, the way I’ve been able to turn my ranking around from 21 to 4 in the world, everything on and off the table couldn’t be better.

“It makes a big difference, personal issues take time to get to the bottom of but now everything is going amazingly well, it’s great to be able to go to these tournaments and do well again.

“To be a top sportsman you have to be incredibly selfish and want to be away a long time, it’s really hard on the families but it’s a sacrifice you have to make. To be in a position mentally where I can do that and want to win every tournament to play in is a fantastic feeling.

“To be in four finals in a row is just incredible, they were all huge tournaments and it’s the first time that I’ve come into the World Championships feeling incredible about my game.”
