IAN Davies starred with four wickets as Oswestry IIs prevailed five wicket winners at home to Ludlow IIs in division two of the Henshalls Shropshire League.

Davies (4-30) was joined by Harvey Greig (2-14) and Henry Walker (2-4) in leading the home attack to ensure Ludlow were all out for 140.

Glen Whittaker (42) and Olly Leggett (29) top scored for the visitors.

Oliver Roberts (45) and Josh Kirk (48no) proved the stars with the bat and guided Oswestry to 143-5 and glory in reply and ensure a triumphant weekend for the border club.

Meanwhile Knockin also celebrated a two wicket win at Shifnal IIIs in division two of the Henshalls Shropshire League

The home side posted 187-8 to defend with Knockin prevailing with 190-8 in reply with Adam Smith (75) and Bill Birch (51) top scoring.

Elsewhere Ellesmere suffered an emphatic 64 run defeat at the hands of Chelmarsh as their testing second division campaign continued.

Connor Glendinning (148) was joined by Charles Thornton (59), Elliott Ward (44no) and Charlie Fensome (42no) in helping the home side to 316-3.

Max Smith (86) led Mere’s reply with support from Aaron Clegg (29) and Jason Wirdnam (26no) but Andy Unitt (3-56) and Ward (3-37) completed Mere’s downfall for 252.
