THE weekend football programme was reduced due to ongoing coronavirus regulations.

Ellesmere Rangers Football Club's weekend clash with Vauxhall Motors in the North West Counties South League was cancelled along with Gobowen Celtic's home clash with Wellington Amateurs in the Salop Leisure Premier League.

The Rangers match was postponed with the club reporting players either suffering from symptoms or awaiting coronavirus test results.

Meanwhile a positive case in the Celtic squad led to the cancellation of their match with a statement on social media confirming the news with no confirmation as yet on the potential impact on forthcoming fixtures.

Elsewhere St Martins travelled to Stockport Town in North West Counties South League.

The Saints held their own until the hour when Max Dickov broke the deadlock.

Lee Middleton doubled the home side's lead before Dickov completed his brace at the death.

Meanwhile Morda United celebrated a 1-0 win at home to Telford Amateurs in the Salop Leisure League first division.

Gary Windsor converted Joe Norris' right wing cross as the Yellows toasted their first win since reforming in the summer.

Meanwhile the Weston Road club have also looked to build solid foundations off the field.

A club spokesman said: "In the very near future we will be forming a committee to ensure that the football club is around for a long time and can improve year on year both on and off the pitch.

"If there is anyone that would be interested in getting involved with Morda Utd and helping out then please get in touch.

"With a bit of hard work there's no reason why we cannot bring back the success to the club and the village that its experienced in previous years."
