WELSHPOOL Town Football Club have stepped up their preparations for next season.

Like all clubs across Wales the Lilywhites are following the Football Association of Wales (FAW) guidelines following the easing of Welsh Government lockdown restrictions.

Since the club has carried out the required risk assessment, compiled information sheets and purchased the necessary PPE and on Wednesday the first team had their first training session.

While the players were happy to get back to kicking a ball, it also gave the club an opportunity to ensure that the 'Safer Return to Training' precautions were practical and suitable.

Besides the first team, which is managed by Russell Cadwallader and coached by Gareth Watkins, the club also has a reserves team and an under 19s team both led by Dave Gannon with help from Pete Gannon.

These two teams are integral to the club’s ethos of bringing players from the junior teams through the under 19s and preparing them for adult football.

The club is also very proud to have an enthusiastic and growing women’s team under leadership of Paul Chilton.

This season the team will be playing in local and national competitions and hopefully develop and improve younger generations of girls to start playing football.

Later in August the junior section will also go back to training with everybody looking forward to an enjoyable and successful 2020/21 season.
