NEWTOWN make the return trip to Barry Town United in the third round of the JD Welsh Cup on Saturday.
The Robins make the trip with confidence high following victory in the league over their weekend hosts last week.
Manager Chris Hughes praised his side and backed them to put in a repeat display.
“I was very happy with our display against a very good Barry Town side,” said Hughes. “We restricted them and created chances throughout the game.
“I felt we deserved to win.
“It was even more pleasing considering the problems we had with several lads out through injury or suspension.
“It gives us confidence ahead of our trip down on Saturday and with most of the missing lads back available we will look to get a cup run going.”
Hughes also felt the win was crucial to maintain his side’s top six bid.
“We are still in the mix for the top six and have some big games coming up over Christmas and New Year.
“First of all we look ahead to Barry and what will be another tough test on Saturday.”
