The New Saints forward Greg Draper believes the break in the fixture list for his side has come at a bad time considering their recent run of form.

Saints have won four of their last five games in the league, drawing one of those away at current table-toppers Connah’s Quay Nomads.

However, TNS are now set to be without a game until November 30 when they take on Airbus UK Broughton.

Draper said with the side being in high-spirits and good form, they would prefer to have fixtures sooner rather than a break.

“It’s probably not ideal having this break, obviously we want to keep the momentum going,” he said.

“We didn’t get to play last week because of the snow, so it’s stopped us from continuing with that momentum.

“Looking at it positively, it’s a good chance for players to get over any knocks they have and hopefully we can come back and pick up where we’ve left off.

“Everyone was a bit disappointed to see the Carmarthen game called off after the snow last week, because once you put together a good run of games you just want to keep on going.

“But like I said, there’s a few knocks going around the team, I’ve been struggling a bit the past few weeks, so it’s a good chance for everyone to get back to 100 per cent.”

The club’s record top scorer believes the side needs to use recent momentum to start recording bigger wins against their opponents too.

He said: “I think every game we’re expecting three points from, anything less is a disappointment.

“Obviously we didn’t get off to an ideal start – I think in years gone by we’ve always seemed to have a bit of a hangover from playing in Europe, so it wasn’t a massive surprise.

“Having said that, results wise, it’s probably the worse start we’ve had in a few years, losing three games.

“In seasons gone by we’ve lost three games or less over the course of a season, so to have lost three already is a bit of a surprise, but if you look at the way we’ve turned things around, especially the last five or six weeks, we’re in quite good form.”

“But it’s not just about the three points; we need to start putting in some big scores really so other teams can take notice of us and we can start striking fear into teams again.”
