CONNOR Bird’s penalty double kept Llanidloes Town flying at the top of MMP-NL Mid Wales League One with a 2-1 derby victory at home to Caersws.

Elliot Jones’ strike gave the Bluebirds the lead before the Daffodils stormed back with a brace of penalties from Bird settling the outcome.

Meanwhile Montgomery Town produced their best display of the season to stun local rivals Welshpool Town 6-0 at Maesydre on Friday night.

Glynn Coney led the rout with a double while Darryl Jones, Tom Evans, Scott Williams and an own goal completed the rout.

Luke Mumford also struck twice with Ryan Groves also on target as Kerry prevailed 3-0 winners at home to Tywyn Bryncrug while Ianto Ap Dafydd’s double helped Aberaeron to a 2-0 win at home to Llansantffraid.

Builth Wells claimed the spoils in a 4-2 win at managerless Carno who parted company with Chris Davies on the eve of the match.

Goals from Jack Hammond, Greg Preece, Rich Powell and Sean Powell won the day while Carno reduced the arrears with goals from Andy Evans and Richie Evans.

Elsewhere Bow Street celebrated a 2-1 win at Radnor Valley with Guto Roberts and Garmon Nutting goals just enough for the Magpies.

Llandrindod Wells shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Berriew with Kieran McCarley netting for the host while Jon Jones’ strike ensured a point for the Rhiewsiders.
