LLANRHAEADR host Penrhyncoch in the JD Cymru North opener on Saturday.

Both clubs survived battles for survival last season and the work starts all over again at a revamped Tanllan this weekend.

Llanrhaeadr chairman Mel Roberts said: “Last season was great but we need to start all over again.

“Penrhyncoch always represent a tough challenge and I’m sure they won’t want to be in the same situation as last year so they will be up for the game and as a club we are delighted to be back playing in the village.”

The hosts head into the weekend with Joe Vaughan and Chris Aitken ruled out and Marc Griffiths battling injury while Matt Evans and Sam Thomas are unavailable and goalkeeper Jimmy Hayns suspended.

Penrhyncoch manager Gari Lewis expected a tough test at Tanllan.

“I have some tough decisions to make for selection and we know Llanrhaeadr will provide a huge physical challenge for us.”

Penrhyn plan to train twice to step up their fitness for the season opener and will be boosted with the addition of Steff Davies, Liam Lewis and Tom Evans for selection.

“We are still without a few due to a wedding but we are heading up to Llanrhaeadr with confidence.”
