An Oswestry League crown green bowling club which runs 11 teams across three leagues and is celebrating its silver jubilee this year has landed a sponsorship deal to help fund its junior coaching.
Johnstown Bowling Club have over 70 members and have now been sponsored by Lock Stock Self-Storage who have two-container storage parks in Oswestry, Wrexham and Shrewsbury.
The backing will go towards the sessions the club’s qualified coaches run with local schools and towards the upkeep of the facilities in Bryn Lane.
Lock Stock commercial manager Jeff Woods said: “The club treasurer, Alan Davies, called in to our storage park and asked if we’d be interested in sponsoring them.
“I came down and had a look and was so impressed with what they have been doing and the fantastic facilities they have and so we agreed.
“Hopefully it will help them introduce local youngsters to the game and ensure that the club goes from strength to strength.”
Alan added: “We’re very much a community club and rely on volunteers and local support and we work closely with the local schools and our coaching sessions with them attract up to 45 children to take part.”
