Chirk AAA 5

Penycae 1

Chirk AAA have now gone four straight games without defeat after they prevailed against a struggling Penycae side.

Penycae came into the game on the back of a 2-1 win over Hawarden Rangers which saw them move off the bottom of the table.

They were unable to match the Colliers on the weekend however, who came into the game on the back of an outstanding 12-0 victory over Lex XI.

Chirk owe thanks to forward Louie Middlehurst, who turned up in fine-form.

Louie found the net five times in the 12-0 win over Lex XI, and continued in the same vein of form by scoring another four against Penycae.

Chirk approached the end of the game with a 4-1 lead, and they were able to find a fifth goal through Adam Williams when there was just three minutes remaining.

The win means Colliers stay eighth, 10 points behind league leaders Brymbo.

Their next fixture on Saturday, February 2 sees them take on Brickfield Rangers, who sit a point above Chirk in sixth.

Chirk AAA reserves were not in action on the weekend, and remain sixth in the table.

After a 3-0 win over Castell AC last weekend, Chirk had a free weekend before they travel to face Hawarden Rangers in their next fixture on Saturday, February 2.

Rangers were in action on the weekend when they travelled to face Buckley Town.

The sides both cancelled each other out and had to settle for a 0-0 draw .

There were only two other fixtures in the reserves division on the weekend.

Second placed Mold Alexandra put in a good performance and battled to earn a victory over Castell AC.

Mold won 7-3 over the bottom placed side.

In the other fixture, FC Nomads won 5-2 against Queens Park.
