TNS Ladies side certainly weren’t taking things lightly in their friendly fixture with Ellesmere Rangers on the weekend, as they found the net an incredible 19 times.

In their first game of the year, the Saints racked up the goals to reach what looked more like a rugby score at Park Hall Stadium.

Rangers were short of players, but TNS manager Laurence Wilson acted accordingly with the friendly nature of the fixture, and loaned three substitute player to Rangers to make up the numbers.

What would eventually turn out to be a bad afternoon for Rangers got off to a bad start as they found themselves three goals down within the first 25 minutes.

Two goals from Katie Doster and a goal by Laura Morris put the hosts three goals to the good.

The Saints refused to take their foot off the gas and scored another seven goals before the half-time whistle. Laura Pennington made it 4-0 before an own goal made it 5-0 and Lauren Brown scored the sixth.

Doster completed her hat-trick and then scored her fourth to make it 8-0.

A second goal from Morris in the 40th minute and Doster’s fifth of the afternoon sent the sides in at the break with the score at 10-0.

After the break, the goals continued to flow with Zoe Griffiths becoming the next name on the scoresheet when she made it 11-0.

Doster found the net for an impressive sixth goal just before the hour mark.

Morris scored her third to make it 13-0, before scoring her fourth shortly afterwards.

Two minutes later, Sarah Jackson got in on the action when she made it 15-0 with around 20 minutes of play remaining.

Jodie Brogan’s goal 15 minutes from time made it 16-0.

Morris became the second player of the day to score a double hat-trick when she netted twice more to make it 18-0.

The final goal of the afternoon came eight minutes from time when Jackson grabbed her second to round off a great performance for Wilson’s side.

TNS will hope to take the form from this fixture into their next league outing when they face Lincolnshire-based side Nettleham Ladies on Sunday, January 13 at Park Hall Stadium.
