Members of the Oswestry Olympians team returned from Much Wenlock with two team awards and three individual trophies in the fourth and final Shropshire Young Athletes Cross Country League race this season.

Liam Rawlings was again a clear winner on the day to complete the season undefeated and claim the overall under-17 Boys’ title.

Bethan Jones came third on the day but second over the season to secure the U15 runner-up title and help her fellow team mates Mia Tate, Anna Rothera, Mia Wyatt and Molly Tinney to the team runners-up spot for the season.

Cato Pugsley celebrated his first season with this club after moving to the area by coming third on the day and over the season in the U13 Boys competition and taking a team trophy alongside Ben Rothera, Aaron Warburton, Jack Tinney and Massimo Wyatt.

Kate Pugh, making her first appearance of the season, ran very well and finished in sixth place in the U17 Girls race.

Tom Hotchkiss, the sole Oswestrian in the U15 Boys event, delivered his best ever finish coming 11th in the 4km race which included twice climbing the notorious windmill hill.

Seren Roberts confirmed her place as the top Oswestry U13 girl coming 13th on the day and 11th over the season. Also securing points for the club were Lexi Youens, Alex Brown and Ellen Gray.

Eight boys and seven girls represented the club at U11.

Top performers were Menna Pugsley and Ryan Paige who finished fourth in their races.

Other U11 team members to successfully complete the course were Emelia Lloyd, Shannon Wilson, Lowri Jones, Isla Rothera, Kate Hotchkiss and Jessica Card in the girl’s race and Archie Calloway, Robert Liddiatt, Harry Cartwright, Daniel Paige, Harry Tidridge, Danny Gray and Freddie Heasmor-Jones in the boys race.

The next event for the Olympians following the festive break is the Shropshire Championships taking place on Saturday, January 5.
