North West Counties League

Division One South

Sandbach United 1

FC Oswestry Town 3

After coming into the fixture on the back of two straight wins, Sandbach were unable to find their feet as they were eventually well beaten by FC Oswestry Town.

Town took an early lead before turning the ball into their own net to bring the scores level again.

However a quickfire double in the second half from Liam Parry and Michael O’Reilly put them beyond reach of their hosts and sent them on their way to another valuable three points.

The result puts Matt Burton’s side into 10th place after playing half of their league fixtures this season so far.

A good start for Town saw them go ahead after just four minutes of play.

Lewis Jarman fired home to make it 1-0.

The lead didn’t last too long though, after an own goal 15 minutes later made it even again at 1-1.

Neither side were able to find the net for the rest of the first half, sending the sides into half time at 1-1.

Burton’s team talk looked to have spurred the side onto victory in the second half.

It took just two minutes for Town to regain the lead in the second half when Liam Parry made it 2-1 with his ninth goal of the season.

Four minutes later, Town found the net again to double their lead.

Michael O’Reilly’s effort put daylight between Town and their visitors, and sent them on their way to the win.

The Town defence kept their opposition at bay for the remainder of the afternoon and cruised to a comfortable 3-1 victory.

FC Oswestry Town are next in action in the league when they welcome Vauxhall Motors to the Park Hall Stadium on Saturday.

Vauxhall Motors sit a place above Town in ninth, so a win could be vital in closing the gap between themselves and the teams higher up in the table.
