Three teams in the Oswestry area were back in action in the North West Counties Football League last night for their second game of the season.

St Martins FC got their first points on the board this season as they managed to get a 3-1 win over Cammell Laird at the Park Hall Stadium.

The Saints went in at half-time 2-1 up and scored again later in the second half to cement the victory.

Karl Bailey picked up the man of the match award after scoring two goals, while the other goal was scored by Brendon Price.

It was another disappointing night for Ellesmere Rangers who lost 3-0 away at Stone Dominoes.

Rangers held their opponents at 0-0 for the first half, but the home side put on a dominant display in the second half.

Alex Russell, Tom Lowe and Elliot Booth were the scorers for the home team.

FC Oswestry Town had to share the spoils in their game after they drew 0-0 with Vauxhall Motors at Rivacre Park.

Town took a point from the game making it four points from a possible six in the opening week of the season.

The visitors had a goal disallowed early in the first half for offside and came close on the stroke of half-time with a header from centre back Owen Lloyd narrowly missing the target.

Two of the regions three sides return to action again on Saturday, with FC Oswestry at home against Wythenshawe Town and St Martins travelling to Stone Old Alleynians.

Ellesmere return to action on Saturday, August 18 when they face Wythenshawe Amateurs at home.
