Oswestry Cricket Club are bringing former Wales and Liverpool striker Dean Saunders to town for a special fundraising sports dinner later this month.
The event, billed as a World Cup warm-up, will be held at Oswestry Cricket Club on Friday, May 29, with the popular frontman promising an evening of football stories, laughs and audience Q&As.
Club spokesman James Bradbury said: “As part of our ongoing fundraising drive we are pleased to welcome as a perfect World Cup warm up former Wales and Liverpool striker Dean Saunders to Oswestry Cricket Club.

"He joins a long list of famous sportsman who have spoken at the club recently including Sir Geoffrey Boycott and Sir Alastair Cook and he will bring lots of tales and stories for people to enjoy aswell as an opportunity to ask questions of a former top level sportsman.
“Oswestry Cricket Club is a charity so we rely upon events such as this to be able to provide an amazing facility for the community to enjoy.
“The club and this event is open to members and non members alike and we would love for new people who haven’t been down before to join us for this event.”
Tickets are priced at £33 per person, with a pre-show happy hour from 5pm to 7pm offering burger, fries and a pint for £10
