ALL roads lead to Weston Pools Park on Saturday as Morda United host Dawley Town in an early season top of the table clash in the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League.

Morda have not looked back since their bright start to the campaign with Mike O’Reilly’s side among the form teams in the league.

O’Reilly was confident ahead of the biggest game of the season so far as the league leaders make the trip to the Shropshire border for the top of the table meeting.

O’Reilly said: “We’ve scored 10 goals ourselves in the last two games so we’ll go and press them and try to get on the front foot early.

“We’ll see where that takes and manage the game from there.

“Saturday will be our toughest test but no matter the outcome we’ve had a great start to the season and I’m confident we can keep going throughout the season.

The Morda United manager admitted his side had exceeded even his own expectations so far this season with confidence brimming following their fine start.

He said: “We’re exceeding expectations, nobody had us down after 10 games to be sitting second in the table.

“We’ve equalled our wins from last season already and we only need three points to equal our points total from last season.”

O’Reilly insisted a good summer of strengthening and retention of a majority of last season’s squad had provided the foundations for the club’s excellent season so far.

He said: “I didn’t need to sign too many players from last season but the players I’ve got in have been outstanding and improved our squad and also most importantly the mentality.”

O’Reilly reserved special praise for summer signing Karl Bailey who has shone in attack since his switch from Shropshire League rivals Ellesmere Rangers who he represented in the North West Counties League last season.

O’Reilly said: “We needed a proper striker so the signing of Karl Bailey has been incredible. 11 goals in six games, can’t complain with that.”
