PLANS to install two rapid electric vehicle charging points in a major Oswestry car park has been formally submitted to Shropshire Council.

The application for the two rapid charging points at the Horsemarket car park, near the Guildhall and market hall, were submitted to the council on Tuesday, January 24 by InstaVolt, based in Basingstoke.

A statement on the company explained that car parking spaces already established on the site will be used for the charging points.

It added: "InstaVolt is proposing to install two rapid electric vehicle charging stations within the Horsemarket Car Park.

"Two existing parking spaces will become EV charging bays, along with associated equipment."

The application form adds that work will be needed to take charging cables underground while the units are will be installed close to the market hall end of the car park, behind the castle.

Consultation for the two EV charging points is expected to end on Monday, February 20.
