THE historic Wynnstay Bowling Club based in the walled garden at the rear of Oswestry’s famous hotel bowled off its 100th season last week.
The club will will mark another milestone in its distinguished history with a meal at the hotel on December 14.
The club has returned to action following two long years in hiatus due to the ongoing global pandemic and ensuing local restrictions.
Members have paid tribute to former member Norma Edwards, who was twice the club’s president and its long-standing secretary, who died recently.
The opening of the bowls season at The Wynnstay Hotel, Oswestry in 1972.
Her long service was marked with an inscribed clock in the club house.

The Oswestry Club is believed to be of the oldest in Britain with 100 years under its belt under the Wynnstay Bowling Club title but the green existed long before that and records show it was established 200 years ago in 1822.
