THE future of Oswestry Olympians is in good hands after a successful set results saw one youngster become a North Wales champion at a championship held in Wrexham.

Jude White was first home in the under-11 boys category in a time of nine minutes and six seconds while in the same race fellow club member Dylan Grimley secured a creditable top 20 finish for the 1.5 mile course.

Club successes continued with Charlotte Arran and Noah White both finishing in the top 10 of the U11 girls and U13 boys races respectively.

A spokesman for the club praised them all.

They added: "Oswestry Olympians Junior and Adult sections draw members from both sides of the border and consequently affiliate to both the English and Welsh athletics bodies.

"The North Wales Championships offer races for those who do not qualify by residence or birth for the equivalent Shropshire Championships.

"One such former junior member who fitted into that category is versatile Welsh Shot Put international, Adele Nicoll, who hit the headlines recently as a member of the GB Bobsleigh squad for the Winter Olympics in Beijing.

"Shortly after this she returned to athletics to take the bronze medal with a new personal best in the shot put at the UK Indoor Championships at Birmingham."
