OSWESTRY put their Midlands Four West North title credentials to the test with a top of the table clash on Saturday.

The Eagles remain unbeaten at top of the table ahead of their trip to second placed Barton Under Needwood this weekend.

Victory would leave Jordan Davies’ team on the verge of the title while defeat would give their hosts a boost in their own bid to overhaul the border club in the remainder of the season.

Club spokesman Martin Ord said the match was huge in the landscape of the season and sure it would impact the final league standings.

He said: “This is a top of the league clash that could be a major decider in the league.

“With Oswestry leading the table and 10 points clear, this game will not be an easy one as Barton will not want to lose this game and will be pulling out all stops after their defeat at Oswestry earlier in the season.”

Ord also insisted the Oswestry players would also have to overcome a partisan crowd as well as a Barton side intent on reducing the deficit at the top of the table.

“Oswestry are on a winning streak and will be putting Barton under pressure from the start,” said Ord. “But we know we will be up against not only Barton but the very strong partisan crowd.”

Oswestry make the trip on the back of a resounding 49-5 win at home to Yardley which further strengthened their title claims.

Oswestry are now in the final stretch of the season with their trip to Barton to be followed by home games against Birmingham Exiles and Aston Old Edwardians before an away date at Essington.

A home derby with Market Drayton also follows before the season concludes with trips to Yardley and Rugeley.
