LLANYMYNECH Football Club ended a 735 day wait for a league win with a thrilling derby win over Llanfechain last week.

Now manager Nathan Bartram has called on his side to build on the performance as the border club bid to climb the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League table.

Bartram said: “It’s a feeling we’ve not experienced for an awfully long time.”

“I honestly believe it was one of the most important wins in our recent history, certainly in my time here.

“I could see just what it meant to everyone, including some very seasoned heads and hearts.

“You can’t always have everything your own way and you’ll have seasons that seem uphill, and this is one of them.

“We’ve a younger, more inexperienced squad but what this result gives them is belief that they can do it, they can get results when it matters.”

Bartram said the level of performance would need to be replicated every week for the club to progress and to avoid a repeat of their 10-0 derby drubbing against Trefonen the previous week.

He said: “Most importantly the last two matches show if we are at our absolute worst we can get pulled apart but if we are at our absolute best it may only just be enough to win by the skin of our teeth.

“There’s no shame in that, it it does however show what is needed every week.

“Llanfyllin Town Reserves this weekend will be another huge game and we have to keep to the same level as they are fighting just as much as us and I know how much it means to them right now and it would churlish of us to expect any less.”

Bartram added: “We have to be at our absolute best to hopefully ensure we can continue progress.”
